Charity campaign: here’s how you helped

Standard

We’ll soon be kicking off our annual charity campaign but before that we wanted to give you an update on how the money you raised last year (a huge $236,000) was used to help those in need around the world.

Of the $236,000 raised, $125,020 was donated to Islamic Relief and $111,039 to Child’s Play; a phenomenal effort and greatly received by each organisation.

Child’s Play is a game industry charity that seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals around the world with the provision of toys and games, which help to provide vital distraction from a generally unpleasant hospital experience.

In a perfect world, Child’s Play would stock every hospital room a child stays in with an iPad, game console  and handheld consoles (such as a 2DS or PS Vita) and have a library of games and movies shared among the rooms.

Your donations helped that become a reality for 15,862 individual children, improving their hospital stay immensely.

The money raised for Islamic Relief was used in 2 ways last year. 50% went towards providing food packages in Malawi, benefitting over 6,700 people, and 50% went towards the building of boreholes in Albania and Mali, helping to provide easy access to clean water for over 4,600 people!

We were blown away by your generosity and are hoping to match last year’s total with the 2015 campaign to help continue to provide aid to those in need around the world.

This year we have changed things a bit and instead of the Bot donations we have added a gaming twist to the charity campaign. From next week we will be adding special charity fish to the Fishing Bot and will be donating 50% of funds raised to the charities. You can also buy the special charity Message Packs also. 🙂
